There's lots of activities throughout the year in
Oskaloosa and Mahaska County from craft shows on the lawn of our
beautiful City Square and more nestled in the climate controlled
Penn Central Mall to the famous Lighted Christmas Parade. Several
festivals are held throughout the year in neighboring communities
as well, like New Sharon, Barnes City, and Eddyville. Make sure

of Events for specific dates, or call the Oskaloosa Area Chamber
& Development Group, 641/672-2591 for any last minute date and/or
event changes.
One of our treasures is the Oskaloosa Community Theater.
The O.C.T. has entertained Oskaloosa and Mahaska County for over
25 years. Performances include dramas, comedies and musicals, and

The George
Daily Commmunity Auditorium is a state of the art performance
venue that runs full year's season of professional programming in
a rural setting in Oskaloosa, Iowa. This 695 seat house provides
all the comforts of intimate seating in a single floor facility
without all the problems of large city traffic and crowds. Special

Lighted Christmas Parade
Voted the #1 Holiday Event in the State of Iowa by Main Street
Iowa, this unique Christmas
Parade is a spectacular event and shouldn't be missed. Lighted
parade entries travel through the historic downtown area which includes
our famous bandstand, also lit up for the occasion! This magnificent
annual event, held on the Thursday and Friday following the Thanksgiving
holiday, draws as many as 10,000 visitors to Oskaloosa.
Live Drive-Through Nativity
A special tradition for residents and visitors presented by the
Oskaloosa Church of the Nazarene on South 11th Street.

Southern Iowa Speedway
Beginning in April, the Speedway comes alive each Wednesday night
with the sound of racing cars. IMCA Modified, Stock and Hobbies
participate as they race for the checkered flag.
The OACDG Scholarship Golf Tournament
In conjunction with the OACDG's Annual Banquet & Awards Ceremony,
we are proud to co-sponsor The Mayor's Scholarship Golf Tournament.
The tournament is a day long event, which starts with lunch and
proceeds into an 18 hole four-person Scramble event. For more information

Nelson Pioneer Farm Museum
The Nelson Pioneer Farm is the first museum in Iowa to honor
the pioneer farmer. The heart of this fifteen-building complex is
the Nelson Homestead. Open from May through October, the highlight
of the year is the annual Pioneer Farm Festival on the third Saturday
in September, when over 30 pioneer skills are demonstrated.
Lake Keomah State Park
This 84 acre lake provides a beautiful setting for modern campsites,
picnic lodges and hiking trails to keep any outdoor enthusiast busy
for a weekend or two.

Oskaloosa Little League
The Oskaloosa Little League has developed a web site to help communicate to the parents, coaches, and other community members that participate in our programs.
Southern Iowa Fair
In July the fairgrounds is the gathering place for one of the largest
County Fairs in Iowa. During the Fair, the 4-H and FFA livestock
shows and exhibits are exceptional. Here you will also find the
largest antique farm machinery display in Iowa. For more information,

Annual Sweet Corn Serenade & Craft Show
This family festival features good food, numerous
children's activities sponsored by area civic organizations, a wide
variety of musical entertainers and a large craft show. Delicious
sweet corn fresh cooked for only 25¢,
Pork burgers, pie and ice cream are available for a small charge.
This event also features corporate games, a pie baking contest,
and a corn shucking contest just to name a few. This event alone
typically brings over 5,000 patrons to downtown Oskaloosa. For more

Summer Concerts in the Bandstand
The Oskaloosa Municipal Band will be presenting its 136th consecutive
season of performances at 8:00 p.m. every Thursday evening during
the summer months. The historic bandstand and the city park come

IMCA Stock Car American Shoot Out
This exciting race held its inaugural race during July 1996
and is sure to have a long history at the Southern Iowa Speedway
in Oskaloosa. Events and features during this event have included
a NASCAR simulator ride, racing collectibles vendors, stunt motorcycle
jumpers, and famous stock cars on display. Even if you're not a
race fan, this exciting event holds a little bit of something for

on the Square
One of Iowa's longest running and most successful art shows. The
historic city square and bandstand provide the atmosphere for as
many as 70 exhibitors and thousands of spectators. This juried event,
sponsored by Main Street Oskaloosa, is held annually on the second
Saturday in June. Local and nationally known artists exhibit and

Golf
If you want to tee off for a fun day of golf, Oskaloosa has three golf courses.
The Edmundson Golf Course, at 1608 Edmundson Drive, has 18 holes on a more than 6,031 yard, par 70 course.
It is located on the southwest side of Oskaloosa, just east of Highway 163 in beautiful Edmundson Park.
Edmundson offers an 18-hole championship golf course and complete golf shop operated by PGA Professional Jeff Peterson.
The golf course, established in 1940 is characterized by rolling watered fairways lined with mature trees and undulating greens.
Annually the host course for the Oskaloosa Amateur and Oskaloosa City Tournament, Edmundson golf course provides different tees
and a course layout that is enjoyable to the occasional golfer as well as the experienced. Fees for 18 holes are $20
and season passes are available. Among the many services provided by the PGA Professional include golf instruction, junior golf,

Oskaloosa Golf, www.oskaloosagolf.com located at 2214 S. 11 St., is an 18-hole,
more than 6,382 yard, par 72 golf course, open to the public. Nestled within the beautiful central Iowa rolling country side,
the golf course opened in 1920 as a 9-hole course. In 1998 a newly designed 9 holes were added. The course features lush,
tree-lined fairways, undulating greens, and four sets of tees to offer a challenge to every skill level. Before or after your round

Harvest Point Golf Course, at 1507 15th Ave. W., is a nine-hole, more than 3,036 yard, par 35 public golf course.
Harvest Point is the newest of the three golf courses in Oskaloosa. Opened in 2000, it is owned and operated by Jeff & Lori Smith.
Three generations of the Smith family have served golf in Oskaloosa since 1951. Harvest point is a challenging 9-hole course,
with four sets of tees, rolling hills and fast greens. If time is more of an issue or you just want to learn or practice the game,
you will enjoy the large driving range and practice green. PGA Professional instruction is available. Harvest Point is a public golf

The IMCA/auto racing fall challenge wraps up a great season
of racing excitement at the Southern Iowa Speedway.
Pioneer Craft Festival
Dozens of craftsmen demonstrate their skills at the Nelson Pioneer
Farm just north of Oskaloosa. Tours of the pioneer farm community
and museum, a parade and a great country dinner round out the celebration
of our heritage!
