Eddyville-Blakesburg Community School District

The mission of the Eddyville-Blakesburg Community School district is to educate all students in a nurturing, challenging and disciplined environment so their performance is a credit to themselves and society.

Lynnville-Sully Community School District

North Mahaska Community Schools

In 1956, the communities of Barnes City, Lacey, Taintor, and New Sharon merged to form North Mahaska Community Schools. The mission of the North Mahaska Community Schools is to prepare students to be positive, productive citizens, with the passion and skills for lifelong learning.

Oskaloosa Christian School

Oskaloosa Christian School is a fully accredited, private Christian school educating children in grades kindergarten through eight. Students often continue their education at Pella Christian High School.

Oskaloosa Community School District

Oskaloosa Community Schools are fully accredited and include kindergarten, six years of elementary, a three-year junior high, and a three-year senior high. The SUCCESS Center is an innovative program that combines the applicable skills of our business leaders, teachers, and students.

Pella Community Schools

Peoria Christian School

Located in northwest Mahaska County, Peoria Christian School is a fully accredited, private Christian school educating children in grades kindergarten through eight.

Twin Cedars Community Schools

In 1961, the communities of Bussey, Tracy, and Attica joined to form the Twin Cedars Community School District. The school is named for the two Cedar Creeks that surround the area, and the school's symbol is the Sabers, which is represented by two crossed swords.

Higher Education Facilities

Indian Hills Community College Wm. Penn Center

The Center is an educational extension site of Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa offering Arts & Science and Health Occupation courses via ICN and computer classes as a part of the Microcomputer Specialist diploma program. GED is also housed in the center as well as Children in the Middle and DUI courses offered on a regular basis. Customized Learning Courses are held as scheduled. They are open Monday – Thursday from 7:30 am – 9:30 pm with hours Friday and Saturdays as classes are scheduled.


St. Ambrose University

St. Ambrose University is an independent, diocesan, Catholic institution of higher learning located in Davenport, Iowa. The University provides a combination of quality instruction in the liberal arts along with pre-professional, professional, career preparation and a variety of life-long learning programs. The entire H.L. McLaughlin MBA Program from St. Ambrose is offered in Ottumwa at Indian Hills Community College.

Vennard College

Vennard College is a dynamic, non-denominational, holiness Bible College training disciples of Jesus to impact our world.

William Penn University

William Penn University was founded by Quaker pioneers in 1873 and still maintains the ideal of providing quality education to all. It is a four-year liberal arts college with a leadership focus that has been recognized nationally as an elite character development program. Penn is home to over 1,400 students from 41 states and ten countries.

William Penn University also offers an accelerated degree completion program through its College for Working Adults, with campuses in Oskaloosa, Des Moines, and Ames, Iowa.
