Welcome to the
Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development
Group!
Oskaloosa is located in south-central Iowa in Mahaska County, just 60 miles southeast
of Des Moines, along highways 163, 92, and 23. Oskaloosa is the
county seat and the main city of commerce of Mahaska County and
is surrounded by many wonderful smaller communities. With this combination,
Mahaska County offers the conveniences and activities of a large
city and the safety, comfort, and friendliness of a smaller town.
The Oskaloosa & Mahaska County area provides various job opportunities, all levels
of educational opportunities, affordable housing, updated health
care facilities, and first class entertainment and recreation.
The Oskaloosa area is a great place to start or expand a business
because of cost-saving tax abatements, industrial park buildings
and land, modes of transportation (highways, rail, and municipal
airport), continual education resources, and most importantly a
willing and hard-working employee base.
The Oskaloosa & Mahaska County area is also full of activities related to recreation
and tourism. Three golf courses, a 15 mile recreational trail, The Southern Iowa Fairgrounds, historic Nelson Pioneer Village
and nearby lakes offer recreation, while the Main Street business
district offers plenty of shopping opportunities.
The Oskaloosa & Mahaska County area takes pride in its communities and welcomes everyone.
Please do not hesitate to visit and if you have any questions or
comments, please contact the Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development
Group at (641) 672-2591.
